It started with a grassroots effort...
...to preserve the forest and trails beside and behind the South Whidbey School District's South Campus on Maxwelton Road near Langley. Those trails include two privately owned 20-acre parcels (see map below) that include trails that link up with more extensive trails used by teachers and the community for 25 plus years. The goal is to avoid the logging and development of this land, in the hopes to preserve the forest and trails for the foreseeable future.

The bulk of the trails are NOT in jeopardy. However, the trees and trails on the south side of the school property and the overall look, feel, and enjoyment of the land here would be forever altered if logged, and sold. The South Whidbey Parks and Rec. District got involved, as these trails fit in with their comprehensive plan to have more trails link together on the south end.
